GETTING TO KNOW YOU WHILE KNOWING YOURSELF!

You’ve gotten engaged! Congratulations to you! This is a huge moment in your life! In many cases, you would want to document it right? That’s where a great photographer comes in! But an engagement session is so much more than just getting some photos of you two celebrating the occasion.

There are many ulterior benefits to an engagement session that you might actually get alittle blown away. Don’t worry, I was too at first. And sometimes, I still am!

If the person you have hired as the photographer is also the same photographer who will be shooting your wedding, this entire session is a fantastic learning moment for everyone involved! First, this helps you get comfortable with your photographer. Breaking the ice during a first time session can take a little effort sometimes, but this is crucial in terms of getting to know each other. The photographer gets to know you both, your personalities, how you are with the camera, and what you are and aren’t comfortable with.

This also lets you get to know your photographer! It helps build a bond that will carry over to your big wedding day. You want to make sure the person you are trusting with an extremely important task on one of the biggest days of your life … is also someone you feel comfortable with.

This is a huge priority for me personally. I want my couples to have fun, to enjoy their day, but at the core of it, I want to make sure they feel comfortable. Not only in trusting me with such a monumental task, but also having me do something for them that they might not be accustomed to.

Oh, and that second part? It’s what you can do with those photos! Want an awesome photo for your wedding invitations? Engagement session can help you out!

Want to set up a lovely display of photos showing the history of your relationship? Some of those engagement sessions work great as well!

Christmas Cards, Birthday Wishes, Happy New Years Letters, the list goes on! I am constantly amazed at how many different means my clients have used their engagement photos for.

Give it a thought. You’ll probably amaze me too 😊

TLDR?

Engagement Sessions are important because they help build a bond of trust with you and your photographer. Everyone learns about each other and what works and what doesn’t.
